What Are Cc and Bcc?
Cc (Carbon Copy): Sends a copy of the email to the specified addresses. All recipients can see the Cc-ed addresses.
Bcc (Blind Carbon Copy): Sends a copy of the email to the specified addresses without revealing their identities to other recipients.
You can add multiple email addresses to both fields or disable them entirely by toggling the respective switches in your settings.
How to Set Up Your Cc & Bcc Preferences
Navigate to Mailboxes from the left-hand menu in OttoMatey.
Locate the Cc and Bcc Preferences section.
Add or update the email addresses for Cc or Bcc as needed.
Toggle the switches to enable or disable each feature.
Use Cases for Cc and Bcc
The Bcc field is particularly useful for logging email communication to your CRM automatically, such as HubSpot, Pipedrive, or other systems. By forwarding emails through the Bcc field, you can keep all client interactions logged and up to date without manual effort.
Example: Setting Up Bcc with HubSpot
To log emails to HubSpot:
Retrieve Your HubSpot Bcc Address:
In your HubSpot account, go to Settings (gear icon).
Navigate to Objects > Activities in the left sidebar menu.
Select the Email Logging tab.
Copy the Bcc address listed in the Bcc Address field.
Add the Bcc Address in OttoMatey:
Paste the HubSpot Bcc address into the Bcc field in your OttoMatey Mailbox settings.
Click Add Email to save.
Send Emails:
When sending an email through OttoMatey, the Bcc address will ensure the email is logged in HubSpot.
If the recipient is not associated with an existing HubSpot contact, a new record will be created automatically.
Important Notes for HubSpot Users:
Emails logged via the Bcc field will not create new records for Bcc-ed recipients.
If a Cc-ed recipient is included, HubSpot will create a new contact record for them, even if one does not exist.
