InMails are a powerful way to connect directly with potential clients, partners, or candidates—even if you're not yet connected. Here's how to efficiently send InMails using OttoMatey and maximize your response rates.


What Are InMails?

InMails allow you to directly message LinkedIn profiles you're not connected with.

With OttoMatey, you can send InMails to both open and closed profiles using your Sales Navigator credits. To use these credits, ensure you enable the "Allow to use my InMail credits" option in the Send InMail step of your campaign.

Important: If this setting isn’t enabled, your campaign won’t send InMails, even if you have available credits in your Sales Navigator account.

Sending InMails to Open Profiles

If you're targeting open profiles exclusively, keep these tips in mind:

  1. Filter Open Profiles:

    • Go to the Prospects tab.

    • Click the Filters icon in the top left corner.

    • Select Profile Options and choose Open.

    • This will show only open profiles within your campaign.

  2. Campaign Limits:

    • Campaigns may not always find enough open profiles to meet your daily limits. Adjust your settings to ensure optimal outreach.

  3. Avoid Overlap:

    • Open profiles may be included in multiple campaigns. Ensure your campaign settings prioritize InMail outreach by toggling on the Move prospects setting.

Tips for Effective InMail Outreach

  1. Use Sales Navigator Search Links:

    • Link your campaign to a Sales Navigator search to streamline targeting and avoid unnecessary profile views.

  2. Optimize Campaigns:

    • Avoid running multiple campaigns with overlapping search results. Instead, use separate campaigns for connection requests and InMails.

  3. Boost Your Campaign Performance:

    • Activate InMails Booster and Instant Searches in Settings > Account Limits to increase the reach of your campaign.

  4. Adjust Daily Limits:

    • Increase the number of pages searched or daily profile views to add more open profiles to your campaign.

  5. Segment Your Campaigns:

    • Use one campaign to search for prospects and another strictly for InMail outreach. Manually move proven open profiles between campaigns for maximum efficiency.

Sales Navigator InMails

To send InMails to closed profiles:

  1. Active Subscription: Ensure you have an active Sales Navigator account.

  2. Enable InMail Credits: Toggle on "Allow to use my InMail credits" in the campaign settings.

  3. Set Monthly Limits: Go to Settings > Account Limits and configure the maximum number of Sales Navigator InMails per month.

InMails Booster

The InMails Booster feature enhances your campaign by:

  • Sending InMails to open profiles via API.

  • Saving your profile view limits, enabling a wider outreach.

Key Notes on InMails

  • Premium Credits: Currently, OttoMatey supports Sales Navigator InMails only. Premium credits cannot be used.

  • Reply Dependency: You cannot send a follow-up InMail unless the first one is replied to. Avoid adding two Send InMail steps back-to-back.

  • Opt-Out Profiles: Prospects who opt out of receiving InMails cannot be contacted via this method.
