What Is SMTP?
SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is the standard protocol for sending emails. By connecting your mailbox via SMTP, you ensure secure and reliable email delivery directly from your email service provider.
Before You Begin
You’ll need the following:
SMTP and IMAP server details (e.g.,
smtp.example.com,imap.example.com).Your email address and password.
Some providers require an app-specific password.
Correct SMTP/IMAP port numbers (e.g.,
587for TLS or465for SSL).Authentication method (e.g., SSL or TLS).
If you don’t have this information, contact your email provider or refer to the list of popular email providers below.
Steps to Connect Your Mailbox via SMTP
Log in to your OttoMatey account.
Navigate to the Mailboxes tab.
Click + Connect Mailbox.
Select SMTP as your connection type.
Fill in the required fields:
Email Credentials: Enter your email address and password.
If your email provider requires an app-specific password, click the arrow icon in the bottom-right corner and follow the instructions.
SMTP Server: Enter your SMTP server address (e.g.,
smtp.example.com).Port Number: Enter the SMTP port (
587for TLS or465for SSL).Encryption Method: Choose either SSL or TLS.
IMAP Server: Enter the IMAP server address and port (e.g.,
imap.example.com,993).
Click Save.
